Here's what you do.

2. Establish your journal.
Make sure it is a celebrity role-playing journal in the MBP universe: Check the master list of characters to make sure you are not a clone.

enter_mbp and register with your celebrity's name, journal username and the category your celebrity should be listed under.
Registering is important! As per July 2nd, 2005, if you are not on the masterlist, you are nonexistent.
You should be getting a comment back within 24 hours, to let you know that your registration has been processed. That means you are listed on the masterlist of characters in the MBP universe and are a fully established citizen of the MBP universe with all the rights and obligations. In this comment, we will also tell you if you are missing any disclaimers and how to fix that.
If you have not gotten a comment within 24 hours, please come and bitch-slap an administrator. Our contact information is listed here.
Disclaimers are important! Your journal can get permanently suspended by LJ Abuse if you do not have your disclaimers in order! We also reserve the right to remove journals that are not properly disclaimered from the masterlist.

4. Begin participating via comments and other interaction.
Suggestions:
Look through the masterlist for bandmates, castmates, teammates, and other people you know one way or another.
Add people to your friends list.
Leave a comment when you add someone. People usually like that. :)
Get an AIM screenname and add people to your buddylist.
Join Welcome Wagon and introduce yourself there.
Join other communities and write topic-related posts there.
Do not cross-post the same intro in every single community you can find - be creative.
5. After at least one week and three entries, click the "join community" link.
If we cannot see any entries, we assume that there are no disclaimers on your invisible entries, so we suggest leaving at least one entry unlocked. That's the one you future-date and put the disclaimer statement into.

Do your homework first. Everything is explained in the FAQ and newbie guide. If you have questions about MBP, don't feel silly, though. We've all needed someone to hold our hands at one time or another. So say hello to one of the administrators (contact information is provided here) and ask.
Worth noting: If your journal is inactive for six (6) weeks, your butt is outta here. If you delete your journal, you are considered as a drop-out. In both cases, you will have to re-register - and someone else might have been faster.
You can also leave the game by commenting toenter_mbp (and if you state that you want to pick your replacement, you can still do that).
VERY IMPORTANT:

TICK Search Inclusion: Minimize your journal's inclusion in search engine results
and
TICK Comment Search Inclusion: Minimize my comment's inclusion in search engine results.
IP Logging: Log IP addresses of nobody
